You're likely to also compare prices. Hopefully you're pleasantly surprised and can leave the store with more food than your stomach alone will ever be able to consume (time to make some friends!). If you're not that lucky, you learn to be creative and buy according to your budget (or you make a lot of friends).
Generally speaking, Australia, when compared to Canada as a whole, tends to have higher costs of living. Here are a few items from my first grocery store trip in Oz. I'll let you draw your own conclusions based on what part of the world you live in.
